Honda/Acura 1988-2011 ALL MODELS HOW TO ACCESS CODES A system check SRS or Supplemental Restraint System lamp will illuminate when the ignition is first turned on. If the lamp goes off after approximately 6 seconds, the system is operating properly. Without the Scan Tool 1. Turn ignition off, wait 10 seconds, then connect SCS service diagnostic tool No. 07PAZ-0010100SCS or equivalent, to service check connector. If you do not wait 10 seconds, SRS or Supplemental Restraint System unit will not completely reset and will not output DTCs. 2. When retrieving flash codes the most resent failure will be indicated first. Count number of flashes to determine codes. 3. Turn ignition on SRS or Supplemental Restraint System light will illuminate for 6 seconds, then go off, and begin flashing DTCs. 4. If no DTCs are present, SRS or Supplemental Restraint System light will remain on until SCS service connector is removed. NOTE - To Extract SRS CODES on OBD 2 systems, a special NON-FACTORY recommended procedure can be used as follows: TO extract codes without a scanner, short PINs # 9 (SCS) and #4 (Ground) at the DLC. In essence, you're grounding the SCS pin at the OBD 2 connector. This is exactly what the scanner does. Always double check and verify that PIN # 9 corresponds to the SCS or SRS SERVICE CHECK using a wiring diagram. Erasing DTCs Without the Scan Tool 1. Turn ignition switch to Off position, then wait 10 seconds. 2. Connect SCS service connector tool No. 07PAZ-0010100, or equivalent to Memory Erase Signal (MES) connector, Do not use a jumper wire. 3. Turn ignition switch to On position. 4. SRS or Supplemental Restraint System lamp will light for about six seconds, then go off. 5. Remove SCS service connector tool No.07PAZ-0010100 or equivalent, from MES connector within four seconds after SRS or Supplemental Restraint System lamp goes out. 6. When SRS or Supplemental Restraint System lamp lights again, connect SCS service connector tool to MES connector within four seconds of SRS or Supplemental Restraint System lamp illumination. 7. When SRS or Supplemental Restraint System lamp goes off, remove SCS service connector tool from MES connector within four seconds. 8.
